The Intersection

Completed I February 2005 I Photography by Ben Guthrie

There was more to this project than simply marrying astute architectural planning and design details to a marked infill area sat across Oxford Street and Glenmore Rd.

Because against a backdrop of decreased foot flow and innumerable retail closures along the once celebrated shopping strip – The Intersection was to act as a heady, luxury lure charged with reinvigorating this pocket of Paddington; to become a ‘destination’ that would draw people back from the dominant, and bland, nearby megamall.

The master plan included the careful consideration of contemporary structures within a complex, urban environment of firm heritage significance. A decade since completion, The Intersection remains a success that has surpassed expectation - a heady community hub attracting high-end fashion boutiques, food outlets and consistent traffic.
